Water Monitoring and Testing

The water supply is sampled according to Ohio EPA requirements.

Every month 5 bacteria samples are taken as well as periodic lead and copper, disinfectant byproducts and chlorine samples.

Backflow Prevention

All Commercial and Residential backflow test results must be submitted to BSI Online.  To register and submit your backflow test results, contact BSI Online:

Backflow is a reversal of the normal direction of flow within a piping system.  A backflow preventer is a device that is installed on a piping system that allows water to flow in one direction but never in the opposite direction.  Its sole job is to prevent drinking water from being contaminated due to backflow.

Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3745-95 requires public water suppliers to protect their water systems from cross-connections and prevent backflow situations.  Public water suppliers must perform cross-connection control inspections of their water customers’ property to evaluate cross-connection hazards and ensure containment devices are tested annually.

All residential irrigation systems must have an approved, testable device that is tested annually (before June 30th), and the results sent to BSI Online.  All irrigation systems must have a Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVR).

All commercial properties are required to have a Reduced Pressure (RP) device on the domestic water service.  All fire systems require a Double Check Valve (DCV).  All backflow devices must be tested annually, and the results sent to BSI Online.
