Dear Sheffield Village residents and visitors,
Welcome to the Sheffield Village Fire Department website. The members of the Sheffield Village Fire Department take great pride in serving our community, and we sincerely appreciate the support we receive each day from the residents, businesses, and visitors of Sheffield Village.
Established in 1934 as the Sheffield Village Volunteer Fire Department, the department has grown into a full-time, all-hazards emergency response organization. Today, we provide a wide range of essential services, including fire suppression, advanced life support-emergency medical services, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, fire prevention, and public education.
A cornerstone of our mission is Community Risk Reduction (CRR). Through proactive programs such as fire safety inspections, fire investigations, fire and life safety education, CPR/AED training, bleeding control education, child car seat installations, home safety assessments, and fall prevention initiatives, we strive to identify and reduce potential risks before they become emergencies.
Our Fire Prevention Division works diligently to ensure the safety of the Village’s diverse businesses, public facilities, and residential properties. From reviewing construction plans to conducting inspections, our team remains committed to protecting everyone who lives, works, and visits Sheffield Village.
The fire service continues to evolve, and so do we. Our firefighters train every day to meet the growing demands of modern emergency response. We also collaborate closely with our regional partners to maximize resources and prepare for today’s increasingly complex emergencies, including fires that burn hotter, spread faster, and produce more toxic conditions. Through continuous training and professional development, we are committed to providing the highest level of service to our community.

The Sheffield Village Fire Department is a highly trained, professional organization focused on protecting the lives and property of our residents, visitors, and businesses. We provide the highest level of public safety services through effective planning, preparedness, rapid response, and risk management, while remaining fiscally responsible to our community.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS)
No matter the time of day, we are here to help.
Sheffield Village EMS ambulances are staffed by dual-certified firefighter/paramedics who deliver timely and professional emergency medical services.
We provide emergency transportation to nearby hospital emergency rooms: Cleveland Clinic Avon, Mercy Health in Lorain, University Hospitals Elyria, and University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake. We will also consider transporting to other area hospitals depending on the nature of the call.
An Ounce of Prevention
The SVFD works with residents and businesses to protect the village. We provide fire prevention services such as public CPR/AED, first aid, fire extinguisher, stop the bleed, and fall prevention training. We offer child car seat installation assistance, a safe haven child drop off program, and a protocol to help anyone who may be in crisis to guide them to the proper professional for their needs.
