Message from Chief Gilles

Established in 1961 as the Sheffield Township Volunteer Firefighter Association, the Sheffield Village Fire Department is now a full-service safety force serving the village around the clock.

We serve our community by preventing emergencies through education and inspection. Our experienced team minimizes injury, death, and property destruction due to fire, natural disaster, and other emergencies while providing timely and effective emergency medical services.

The SVFD responds to emergencies such as fires, medical issues, water and ice rescues, and natural and man-made disasters. Our incident management plan is structured to enable us to respond to a wide variety of issues that may impact our community.

The Sheffield Village Fire Department is a highly trained, professional organization focused on protecting the lives and property of our residents, visitors, and businesses. We provide the highest level of public safety services through effective planning, preparedness, rapid response, and risk management, while remaining fiscally responsible to our community.

An Ounce of Prevention

The SVFD works with residents and businesses to protect the village. We provide fire prevention services such as public CPR/AED, first aid, fire extinguisher, stop the bleed, and fall prevention training. We offer child car seat installation assistance, a safe haven child drop off program, and a protocol to help anyone who may be in crisis to guide them to the proper professional for their needs.
