CPR/AED and First Aid

The Sheffielod Village Fire Department recognizes that effective bystander CPR provided immediately after a cardiac arrest can double or even triple that individual's chances of survival. SVFD is committed to providing this life-saving training to members of the communities we serve.

The AHA’s Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.  Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. This class is a  video-based, instructor-led course that covers:

  • First aid basics
  • Medical emergencies
  • Injury emergencies
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Preventing illness and injury
  • Adult CPR and AED use, Adult choking
  • Infant CPR, infant choking

Heartsaver CPR/AED is geared for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. This class is a  video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.
